What is Summer Reading Club?

Children sign up at the library and receive a booklet to keep track of their reading during the summer. After reading 40 books (or for 10 hours), your child(ren) will earn a prize, free food coupons, and a free book! This year children have 8 weeks to complete their reading records and turn them in. They may complete 2 reading records this summer for a chance to earn 2 prizes, 4 food coupons, and 2 free books.

Who can join?

Youth ages 0-18 can join the Youth Services Summer Reading Club.

Come to your branch library to make your own dragon craft during the week of May 13-18. Craft supplies will be available, no registration required.

It's a scavenger hunt around the library for all the ingredients for stone soup! Food fun for the whole family. All ages with accompanying adult(s), no registration required.

Preschoolers and their caregivers will plant flower seeds to take home during this celebration of spring flowers! Stories and musical activities for ages 6 and under, with accompanying adult(s). Register at the Youth Services Desk or call 740-383-9715, or register online.

Not sure how to spend that afternoon after Saturday morning sports and before Saturday night gatherings? We have the perfect solution at the library! Monthly, visit the library for popcorn* and a free movie! All ages, no registration required. This summer we're showing favorites from the 60s!

Beginning readers can relax and practice their skills by reading to Kipper, a trained therapy dog. All ages, no registration required.
